The Franken family name is quite a common one in the Rhineland, in the lower Rhine area and in the Netherlands.

From my father's side my ancestors can be traced back in the Rhineland from
the village Glesch to Dirmerzheim and up to the last century into Cologne.

From my mother's side family links reach from the Netherlands: Weesp near Amsterdam
- via Lower Saxony: Lüneburger Heide, Bergen/Celle to Saxon-Anhalt: Magdeburger Börde, Kroppenstedt.
